The Humane Society of Wayne County is a non-profit charitable organization funded primarily through donations. Our purpose is the prevention of cruelty to animals and the education of potential pet owners about responsible pet ownership. We welcome the participation of those who are willing to represent our organization in accordance with our mission and philosophies.
Most Valued Hands: Clean cages, feed and water animals, wash dishes, clean kitchen area, mop floors
Bath Time: Groom and bathe animals; particular animals can truly benefit from this
Walkin' Around: Staff will help you select a dog to walk around the Humane Society grounds
Right Hand Person: Help with typing, clerical duties, filing and data entry
You, Your Work, and the Humane Society: Publicize adoptable animals within your company. Collect items from our Wish List from within your organization
Group Activities: Landscaping projects, painting, clean up, collect items from our Wish List. Hold a fund raising event to help our animal friends
Foster Friends: When the event arises, caring for an animal in your home until it is suitable for adoption. Be sure to read 10 Ways to Become a Successful Foster Parent provided by the Humane Society of the United States

Did you make a New Year’s Resolution to help us out?
We are always looking for volunteers, not only at the shelter but in other areas, too. Please contact the shelter if you are interested in helping with:
- our kitties at Webster and Victor PETsMART locations
- transporting shelter animals to and from local veterinary offices
- stuffing envelopes and doing mailings
- bottle and can drive
- Yard Sale with proceeds going to Humane Society
- Doing collection drive for items on our wish list, such as paper towels, bleach & cat Litter
- writing an article for our newsletter and/or website
- pet therapy visits
They’re all necessary tasks, and great volunteer opportunities!
