Spay Day USA – February 23, 2010
Want to be Pawfectly Fabulous? Join Spay Day USA!
When you look up the word "litter" in Webster’s Dictionary, the first definition is "heedlessly discarded trash." The second is "the animal young from a single birth." Sadly, this juxtaposition plays out in real life on a tragic scale. Every year in the United States along, millions of cats and dogs die because we fail to live up to our responsibilities toward them—in particular, the responsibility to spa or neuter to prevent accidental litters. Some one on the streets as strays; most are euthanized in shelters and pounds. (Reprinted from Animal Guardian Magazine, published by the DDAF.)
What is Spay Day?
Spay Day USA is our national campaign to end the killing of healthy, adoptable animals by promoting the benefits of spay/neuter.
More than 1 million cats, dogs, and other animals have been spayed or neutered since 1995, thanks to Spay Day USA participants.
Celebrate Spay Day with HSWC
Many local veterinarians will be joining the Humane Society of Wayne County and the Doris Day Animal Foundation in the celebration of Spay Day 2010.
